Seo Taiji Boys’ debut. It was first broadcasted in MBC in 1992 where new artists would perform and get judged by a panel of critics. Taiji boys got the lowest score in the show, but the audience differed and changed the way music was done in Korea. Korean music can be divided in two eras: Pre Seo Taiji and Post Seo Taiji. Also, they gave rise to the boy bands that we see in Korea today.

well seo taiji is considered the MJ of korea….don’t know how many millions of cds he has sold….he has changed korean music cuz of the songs he wrote (songs like Come Back Home….about runaway teens)and the music he has produced ( he has songs that are hip hop, punk, rock, & pop)
u should check his wikipedia and look him up on youtube….the other guy, Lee Ju-no, also made his own record company

i was a part of …
i was a part of this history. i was there. My twin and brother and I went on tour with them back in 1992 as back up dancers. If you saw the video of the Seoul Concert, the 2 black guys was us twins. It was blast being on tour with those guys!!!! I’ll never forget it. We were Active Duty Army at the time, and took leave to do the tour.

The four judges must have been very familiar to these world trends and enjoyed it. The problem is: at that time Koreans applied double standard to musics. They enjoyed anglo pop, meanwhile have thought that that;s not fit for Korean language, music, chanson, canzone style more suitable to Korean song. Seo taeji phenomenon represents that the barrier demolished.

it’s not true. in korea at that ,pop music was overwhelmingly popular. every monday students would discussed about american billboard chart, so many young men addicted to rock and metal. metalica, gun;s and roses, chicargo, air supply were very popular among yong men, tiffany, new kids on the block, aha, petshop boys, cynthy lauper, madonna got tremendous popularity amomg all yong generations. and korea itself had very wonderful rock groups at that time such as boowhal, seenawe.
