I want to sell my mp3 on my own ecommerce shopping cart what’s a good suggestion?
December 18th, 2010 | by admin |I am looking to sell hundreds if not thousands of mp3’s on an e-commerce shopping cart, with digital download. I don’t want to pay a subscription fee, but I don’t mind buying out right the rights to use the shopping cart.
I do want the site to look nice, but not too difficult for me to build by myself. I know a little about web design and code, but not a lot. I’ve built another website with CubeCart, but I’m not convinced yet that it is the way to go this time. If I could make it look nice like iTunes that would be awesome.
If anyone has any suggestions on shopping carts or templates that would make CubeCart do what I want please let me know.
Thanks!
thanks for the suggestions. i looked into word press and kind of found it lacking what i wanted. i’ve been looking into opencart. have you heard anything about it? our site is hosted through media temple and i really haven’t been able to find a good set of install directions to use with media temple. i’ve never had to install a site using MAMP or localhosting before. anyone have any thoughts?

Digital download carts are a big more complicated. Its much harder I would use http://www. districtlines. com/home lots of indies use it.
Setting it is difficult without subscription because you have to create secure login and make sure you know how to secure your mp3 files so its not available to just everyone can just download.
Highly recommend using a premade system then your own try district lines like I said they are cool and deal with a lot of indies.

Have you check if your host has an auto-installer for Open Cart? If not, maybe you could contact them for help.
If you want, you could also look into Prestashop. com.

You can find some Cube Cart templates here: http://www. kissmycart. net/ . There are a few freebies, and there are some you have to pay for. Perhaps you’ll find a Cube Cart theme you like there.
Another option you have is to set up a Wordpress-based site and install a shopping cart plugin. That way, you can take advantage of the many, many free Wordpress themes and get a look that you like. Wordpress is also pretty straightforward. To do this:
1. Find a good host if you don’t already have one. If you want to use a free one, try http://byethost. com . You can also search http://freehostsfinder. com for a host.
If you want to use a paid host, you can try some of the more popular ones like Hostgator – http://bit. ly/aoKLnZ , Just Host – http://bit. ly/97Ci0U , or Dream Host – http://bit. ly/9S7TU8 (Host Gator is the most popular, but the other two give you a free domain).
2. Most hosts will have an auto installer. You can use that to install Wordpress easily.
3. Login and install a Wordpess e-commerce plugin. This one is a good free one which allows you to receive paypal payments – http://www. instinct. co. nz/e-commerce/ . Here is another one for $49 – http://bit. ly/qfDzZ . If you want a simpler plugin, you can try .
4. Finally, you can get a template that you like. There are many good ones for free, like at
http://www. simplethemes. org/
http://www. web2feel. com/
Doing a Google image search of “free wordpress themes” will help you find even more.
If you don’t like the free ones, you can get some nice paid ones (links at the bottom).
Hope this helps.
